Harold Vereen hails from the vibrant Low country of South Carolina where he was born and raised by his loving parents Chanie and Raymond Vereen. Growing up as the third of ten children, Harold’s upbringing was steeped in the rich traditions of the Gullah/Geechee culture, emphasizing values of faith, family, and hard work.

In Harold’s formative years, his community lacked modern amenities like electricity and running water, installing in him a deep appreciation for simplicity and resilience. Despite limited resources, Harold’s parents, though not formally educated imparted invaluable wisdom and instilled in him a thirst for knowledge.

Harold navigated the segregated school system, where he excelled under the encouragement of his parents. He became only the second person in his community to attend college, following in the footsteps of his older sister. Graduating from benedict College with a degree in Business Administration in 1972. Harold embarked on a successful corporate career, excelling in roles at Sears and Roebuck, Procter and Gamble, and Mead Corporation.

In 1985, Harold transitioned from the corporate world to entrepreneurship, becoming a partner at Stewart and Partners, a minority creative agency. Later he founded Vereen Marketing Group, Inc., providing graphics services for esteemed clients like PepsiCo and Seagram.

Harold’s is committed to serving God’s people through his various gifts. As a senior deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church in New PA and president of Mount Gilead Community Church in Buckingham, PA, he diligently serves the congregations and community. Additionally, Harold is the president of the Omega Delta Upsilon Foundation, Inc., supporting educational initiatives through the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Fraternity, Inc. of which he is an active member.

Harold has been married to Nancy Vereen for 51 years. They have three sons and several grand and great grandchildren.
